Maddy grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and left her desert state in 2015 to move to the sauna we call New Orleans. She is currently a junior at Tulane University studying Linguistics and Africana Studies. Maddy joined Students Organizing Against Racism in the fall of her freshman year, and has been involved since. Within the New Orleans community, Maddy has worked with the Fair Housing Action Center, as well as with European Dissent.

Historian/Website & History Committee Co-Chair (Fall 2015 – Present): Amber Thorpe

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Amber is currently a senior at Tulane University studying Anthropology, Political Science, and Africana Studies. They have been involved in SOAR since the spring of their freshman year, and is currently working as the SOAR historian and as a leadership member of the White Anti-Racist Network of Tulane (WANT). Amber also works at the Center for Public Service as a Service-Learning Assistant, Community Engagement Advocate, and Curriculum & Training Specialist. They also work with European Dissent and Lift Louisiana.

Treasurer/Finance Committee Chair (Fall 2017 – Present): Cliff Soloway

Cliff Soloway is currently a sophomore at Tulane originally from Westchester, NY studying Political Economy and Sociology. He first became interested in social justice work after attending the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond Undoing Racism/Community Organizing Workshop in the fall of his freshman year. Since then, he has worked with organizations such as the Pro Bono Project and the People’s Assembly. Cliff, without a doubt, has a great deal to learn about white anti-racist accompliceship, but he hopes that he may contribute in any way he can to these established social justice organizations as he moves forward. At SOAR, Cliff keeps track of the organization’s budget and helps coordinate finances for various events. He is also on the Leadership Team for the affiliated White Anti-Racist Network at Tulane (WANT).


Programming & Events Committee Co-Chair (Spring 2017 – Present): Anfernee “Bubba” Murray


Anfernee “Bubba” Murray is currently a junior at Tulane University working towards a Bachelor in Anthropology with a focus in Forensics. In Students Organizing Against Racism, he sits on the Committee of Programming and Events.


 Chair of the White Anti-Racist Network of Tulane (Fall 2017 – Present): Lane Edwards

Lane Edwards graduated from Tulane University in May 2017 with a degree in Public Health and Anthropology, she is currently pursuing her masters in Maternal and Child Health & Environment Health at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She is originally from Denver, Colorado and transferred to Tulane for her sophomore year. Lane joined SOAR in the spring of her junior year and is currently the chair of the White Anti-Racist Network at Tulane. Outside of Tulane, she volunteers with the New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps. 




Chair of the People of Color Collective (POCC) (Fall 2016 – Present): Harmonii Odinga 


Harmonii is a current junior and pre-med student studying Public Health and International Development. Originally from Sugar Land, TexasHarmonii moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane and became involved in SOAR his freshman year. As chair of the People Of Color Collective, Harmonii helps to network and organize with anti-racist POC clubs on campus as well as improve collective analysis of racism and its manifestations upon and within POC communities. 




Outreach & Community Building Committee Co-Chair (Fall 2017 – Present): Sydney Monix 

Sydney (Class of 2019) is a Neuroscience and Communication undergraduate student from the Great New Orleans Area. She serves as SOAR’s Liaison and is a part of the Outreach Committee and the People of Color Collective. Outside of SOAR, Sydney is a member of Green Wave Ambassadors, the Nu Mu Citywide Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Minority Association of Pre-Med Students. She plans to become an EMT and then pursue a medical degree.





Events & Programming Committee Co-Chair (Fall 2017 – Present): Ty-Ron Wright

I am a Junior from New Orleans, Louisiana double majoring in Sociology and Social Policy and Practice. In addition to my majors, I am pursuing Teacher Certification for Secondary Social Studies. While most of the time I am doing work with SOAR, I am also a Green Wave ambassador, a Resident Adviser, a Community Engagement Advocate (Center for Public Service), I sit on the academic Honor board, and a member of Phi Alpha Delta (pre-Law Fraternity). Though I am a very busy student, there is always time to be made to do anti-racist work! I encourage anyone interested to join in this work as I believe everyone has a role in deconstructing racism.
